My name is Amy Yaxley. I have lived in Keighley all my life and recently moved to Haworth with my partner, Charlie. When I am not at work I like to go hiking, jogging and I have a real interest for trying different recipes to make new meals!
I have worked at Brougham Street Nursery School for over two and a half years and I am the key person for orange group. I started my childcare NVQ level 2 and 3 when I left high school in 2010. I carried out my learning at Shipley college and I completed all levels in 2013. Whilst completing my NVQ’s I worked as an apprentice in a private day nursery in Bingley. I worked here until 2014 when I decided to take on a new challenge and became a support worker; working alongside adults with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. I worked in adult care for 5 years and worked my way up to being a team leader. Prior to joining Brougham Street I worked at Airedale hospital as a healthcare assistant, using many of the skills I had aquired as a support worker. By this time I was reflecting back on the earlier part of my career and fortueously a post came up at Brougham Street and the rest as they say is history. I applied to the Open University to further my knowledge within the childcare sector, and I am now studying Young Children’s Learning and Development foundation degree at Craven College.
I have a real interest and passion for working alongside children and its such a rewarding feeling knowing me and the team I work alongside make a difference to all the children we work with.
I love every moment working at Brougham Street Nursery School and I could not ask for a better team to work alongside.
