Hi, my name is June. I live in Skipton with my partner. I have grown up twin girls - Laura and Lisa, who each have a son - Alfie (2.5 y) and Ronnie 5 months, so I am a very proud Grandma or Nana as I like to be called.
My career in childcare started in 1996 when my daughters attended a local playgroup. Firstly I helped out on a voluntary basis, but then I found that I really enjoyed the work and so decided to train. I qualified in 1998 after doing the Diploma in Pre-School Practice NVQ Level 3. I then got a job in another playgroup where I worked for eight years as a Playgroup Assistant and then as a joint Playgroup Leader. Since then I have worked in a couple of nurseries gaining lots of experience, knowledge and skills in how different nurseries operate. I joined Brougham Street Nursery in January 2020 as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). I have worked in all of the rooms. Sometimes on a one-to-one basis LSA and also as a Nursery Practitioner. In February 2021 I joined the Nursery School Classroom.
I am trained in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Child Protection, Food Hygiene and Level 2 in Equality and Diversity. I have various certificates in childcare and most recently have completed CPD in supporting children with Down Syndrome, Speech Language and Communication and Epilepsy Awareness.
I enjoy being with the children, talking and listening to what they say, being involved in their learning and their play, getting to know them and all their funny little ways!!! I feel that all children should feel valued and included.
In my spare time I enjoy being with my grandchildren. I enjoy being out in the fresh air with my family walking. I also enjoy pottering around in my garden.
