Staff Profile

Name:
Beccy Robinson
Position:
Class teacher & Learning Support Assistant

I am Beccy and I have been working at Brougham Street Nursery School as a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant since January 2016. I have a BA in Psycholingusitics and a PGCE, qualifying as a teacher in 1999. I worked as primary school teacher for a number of years until I put my career on hold to raise a family. I have a keen interest in language and communication, have PECS and Makaton training and experience, sensory impairment training, and have also had autism training. I have a certificate in autism and sensory experience from the National Autistic Society (CPD certified), and am CPD certified as a SEN Teaching Assistant. I believe sensory play and experiences are important to all children, which is why I have established a “pop up” sensory space which all children within nursery school access. I am passionate about helping and enabling SEND children access the early years curriculum.  Working in early years is great fun, there is never a dull moment! I love the brutal honesty that young children have, and thoroughly enjoy being able to help nurture little people as well as educate them.
